THE BANALITY OF EVIL | poem
For I have met the Banality of Evil
face to face
when they hung me upside down
and took from me all that I had
I have met the Banality of Evil
and seen it in their smiles
their pretentions and their stories
when they lied through their teeth
I have met the Banality of Evil
asking for applause
posing for the public
abiding by TV instructions from above
cashing in at the end of the month
patting each other's backs
keeping me at bay
locking up my heart
